From First Cuts to Tiny Masterpieces

Every Tiny Cut Tells a Story

When people think of woodcarving, they probably imagine sculptures or intricate relief carvings. My carving is much smaller! I create tiny boats, little cottage doors, and miniature details for my driftwood coastal scenes, where every tiny cut helps tell a story. When I first started, I simply used basic carving tools I’d bought online. They did the job, but after a nasty accident that left me with a badly cut finger, I realised I needed something that felt safer and gave me better control.

The Beginning of a Lasting Partnership

I started researching different carving tools, and Flexcut kept coming up again and again. That autumn I decided to put a couple of Flexcut chisels on my Christmas wish list, and my husband bought them for me. I’ve been using them ever since.

Although I’m not a traditional woodcarver, these tools have become an essential part of my creative process. They allow me to carve the tiny boats, little doors, and other miniature details that bring my coastal cottages and lighthouses to life. Working on such a small scale means precision is everything, and having tools that feel comfortable in my hand makes all the difference.

It’s amazing how something as small as a tiny carved boat can add so much character and tell its own little story.

I’m so grateful to Flexcut for creating tools that have become such an important part of my work.
