I am a scroll saw artist by trade but have a passion for all things woodworking and love learning new techniques. My 6 year old son loves being in the shop with me and notices any wood item that we see in stores. After seeing some hand carved pieces in a store he relentlessly kept asking when I would carve him something and if I could teach him! Well, in order to teach him I needed to learn myself. I ordered a set of carving knives and got to work whittling birds out of basswood. From there, I was inspired to incorporate a hand carved swallow ( from walnut) into a scroll saw piece I was working on. I absolutely love having a carving project always in process and find it to be some of the most peaceful and rewarding work that I do!
