Mindy Schumacher
Mindy Schumacher is from Rockford, Illinois where she shares a studio with her magical, miraculous daughter, GG. She lives out her fascination with the rhythm of patterns in her creative practice and is fulfilling a childhood dream of sharing her passions through the privilege of teaching both printmaking and piano.
When Mindy studied Philosophy of Art in graduate school, she hadn’t anticipated working as an artist.
Having dabbled in reduction linocut printing in college, she sought a way to cross pollinate some of her varied interests, namely, printmaking, pattern making and graphic design into a handmade practice. She was drawn to the slow, thoughtful and antiquated processes of traditional hand block printing for textiles. In a remarkable way, she fell in love with the medium itself and it became a vehicle for expression.
Mindy is a proud member of the Speedball Network of Professional Artists and of the People of Print. Her work has been featured in print in Midwest Living Magazine. She co-founded Printer Solstice with Susana McDonnell of LinoCave Prints, an Instagram based print community with an annual campaign since 2018. She has the honor of leading workshops across America and internationally in the Netherlands.
