The Jimothy Summer Carving Challenge is your chance to showcase your creativity, craftsmanship, and carving skills for the entire woodcarving community. Whether you're a seasoned woodcarver or just starting your carving journey, we invite you to create an original carving featuring Jimothy and enter for a chance to win prizes and be featured by Flexcut.

What Can You Carve?
Your entry can be any original woodcarving as long as Jimothy appears somewhere in the piece. Eligible carving styles include:
- Spoon carving
- Figure carving
- Relief carving
- Caricature carving
- Whittling
- Chip carving
- Mixed media (wood must be the primary material)
The more creative your interpretation, the better. Jimothy can be realistic, whimsical, tiny, oversized, hidden in the design—or the star of the show.
How to Enter
Complete your carving during the contest period and submit it through the Flexcut website before September 1.Your submission should include:
- 1–5 high-quality photos of your carving (at least one finished photo)
- Work-in-progress photos (encouraged)
- Close-up detail shots
- Bonus points for including the carving tools you used
- A photo of yourself (optional but encouraged)
- A short artist bio
- 2–3 sentences about your inspiration
Contest Rules
To participate, your entry must:
- Be your own original work
- Be created during the contest period
- Feature Jimothy somewhere in the carving
- Be submitted by September 1
- Not have been entered into another contest
- Not contain AI-generated artwork or designs
- One entry is permitted per person.
Judging Criteria
Our judging panel will evaluate each submission based on:
- Craftsmanship: 40%
- Creativity: 30%
- Originality: 30%
- Presentation and Photography: 10%
How Winners Are Chosen
Round One: The Flexcut team will review every submission and select the Top 20 carvings based on craftsmanship, creativity, originality, and interpretation of Jimothy.
Fan Favorite Voting
The Top 20 entries will be showcased for public voting. The carving with the most votes will receive the Fan Favorite Award, giving you an opportunity to share your work and rally community support.
Grand Prize Winner
After public voting concludes, Flexcut President & CEO, Steve Bain, will select the official contest winner(s).
